Rachel Buddin-Young

My primary focus is working with individuals and couples ages 16 and up. My background includes helping people work through trauma, PTSD, communication barriers, infidelity, reconciliation, divorce, addictions, grief, depression, anxiety, panic, dissociation and finding purpose in life. I have a great deal of experience working with military service members, their families, and veterans, or similar careers that include deployments or extended time away from the home and reintegration. I believe that achieving personal goals, changing lifestyles and/or working through previous life events can all provide a future full of hope and joy!

My approach to therapy is person–centered, non-judgmental, compassionate, caring, and solution focused. I utilize various therapies that allow you to help make the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. My specific trainings include cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and existential therapy. Additionally, I work with couples on communication and problem-solving skills. I have a strong Biblical background and, if requested, will integrate this background into our work together.

Kris Johnson, LCSW

My name is Kris Johnson. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Alaska. I am also a mother, a sister, a wife, daughter, and a friend and more. I am a first generation Filipino-American, daughter of immigrants who have proudly served our country and state in the armed forces and in healthcare.

I am the best version of myself when I have time with my family, my friends, and my community. I love hot drinks all year round, listening to audiobooks, having uninterrupted time with my little one, and adventuring. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Hawaii Pacific University and my master’s in social work from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

The endeavor to enter therapy takes immense bravery, vulnerability, and strength. Taking this step can feel uncomfortable and even scary. Maybe you've thought, healing your wounds feels selfish or may be too intense. Perhaps, you may feel some unrest due to one or several unaddressed traumatic events, experience difficulty in making or maintaining relationships, or may be struggling to understand how you fit in this world. When really, that inner healing is an act of selflessness and can open the door to more

possibilities for freedom in areas you may feel chained down by.

It is important to me that you feel seen and heard. I do my best to approach each client with a whole person perspective; attending to intersecting identities that may contribute to present anxieties. I believe that people already possess the internal strength and ability to overcome the challenges they are facing. I am merely here to assist them in seeing those strengths realized. My focus is primarily with late teens and adults. My training and experience include bottom-up modalities such as EMDR and Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and foundations in Emotion Focused Family Therapy. I have had the privilege of working in many settings including in outpatient and inpatient substance abuse, child welfare, crisis recovery, and human trafficking recovery for survivors among others. My heart's work is in trauma and attachment and I am constantly learning about new ways to improve my knowledge and experience to best serve the people I work with by pursuing trainings and further education.
